Hinchcliffe Celebrates Go Daddy IndyCar Victory With Canadian Flag! “Hinch” Wins his Career 1st IndyCar Race in Season Opener

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (March 24, 2013) - James "Hinch" Hinchcliffe put Go Daddy in Victory Lane today with his first IZOD IndyCar Series win. The Canadian superstar leaped out of his Go Daddy No. 27 car waving a Canadian flag after running a brilliant race through the St. Petersburg street course.

Go Daddy’s Andretti Autosport crew went into the race with what they called a “Hinchcliffe 2.0” strategy, focusing on restarts, aggressive passing and fuel-saving and it paid off beautifully. “Go Daddy in Victory Lane in IndyCar is so awesome – I want to thank the whole Go Daddy team,” Hinchcliffe said immediately after winning. “We just put our heads down and did it!”

That positive, ‘never give up your dream’ attitude is a fitting personification of Go Daddy’s award-winning customer approach. "Hinch and the Go Daddy team were spectacular today," said Go Daddy CEO Blake Irving. "There's nothing like that first win. It's inspirational because it goes to show how important it is to have big goals and never give up. Hinch represents Go Daddy and all of our customers who believe in pushing to make their dreams come true."

Hinchcliffe’s dream was realized in the adopted hometown of the late Dan Wheldon, who signed to drive the Go Daddy car before his death in the 2011 season finale. Hinchcliffe will now be added to the Wheldon monument at Turn 10 on the race course. An emotional Hinchcliffe declared how special it was for today’s victory to happen in St. Petersburg, “knowing my face will be on that memorial … that’s really special.”

Go Daddy, the Web’s top platform for small businesses, has been a great fit for Hinch, who is a tech savvy driver. He’s very active with his website,, and social media accounts where he is known as “the Mayor of Hinchtown.” He has a sense of humor as well, joking about having “big heels to fill” and wearing a “Danica wig” last year in a nod to Danica Patrick, who turned over the Go Daddy seat when she transitioned into a full-time NASCAR schedule.

Today, the Associated Press referenced Hinch as the Canadian driver poised to become IndyCar’s next big star. Performances like today definitely support that prediction.

Next up, Hinch drives the No. 27 Go Daddy Chevrolet in the Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama April 7.
