New GoDaddy Survey Shows Promising Outlook for Website Designers & Developers

Today, we released the results of a survey looking at how the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted the career outlook for website designers and developers. The survey of 500 website designers and developers was conducted by research firm OnePoll.

There is no doubt that the pandemic has been a difficult year for the workforce, with two-thirds of Americans sharing that they worry about the future of their job security. But despite the current challenges and uncertainty, we found website designers and developers are generally optimistic about their prospects and feel secure in their roles.

As more and more businesses have moved online in the past year, there has been a growing need for website design and development. Ninety-three percent of the website designers and developers surveyed believe this demand will continue to grow in the next five years.

And for those looking to start a new side hustle or try a new career path while times are uncertain, starting a career in web design and development could be a viable option. Ninety-five percent of designers and developers believe that the website design and development industry offers a lucrative and secure career path, with the best perks being: the ability to work remotely (61%), the creative aspects (54%), the work environment (47%) and the pay (45%).

At GoDaddy, we want to support website designers and developers at every stage of their journey -- whether they are just starting out designing their first website or if they’ve already built a robust roster of clients.
