GoDaddy Targets European Expansion: Hires EMEA Vice President GoDaddy Prepares to Open European Customer Care Centre - Announces Stefano Maruzzi

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. / LONDON (Nov. 6, 2013) As more small companies look to establish their online presence around the world, GoDaddy is expanding its European operations, and has appointed Stefano Maruzzi as its Vice President of EMEA (Europe, the Middle East and Africa). Maruzzi will lead GoDaddy’s European expansion, building on the success since the company began focusing on increasing its presence and service offering to companies across the region.

Alongside Maruzzi’s appointment, GoDaddy is confirming plans to open a European Customer Care Centre, and the location is expected to be finalised by the end of the year. GoDaddy’s European site would then be operational in late-spring of 2014 providing customer service in 14 European languages.

GoDaddy’s mission is to radically shift the global economy toward small business by empowering people to easily start, confidently grow and successfully run their own ventures. As small businesses fuel the overall economy, GoDaddy is making it easier for millions of small business owners around the world to leverage the power of the Internet. GoDaddy plans to hire additional people in the region, develop a facility and spend advertising dollars locally, in addition to helping local enterprises grow and prosper.

Maruzzi has a remarkable career, with 25 years of experience building and leading technology teams and media industries across Europe. He is a well-known figure in the Italian and European tech communities. Over the past 13 years Maruzzi has worked as a leader and senior executive at multinational organisations including Google, Microsoft and Condé Nast. Maruzzi joins GoDaddy from YOOX Group, where he was Director for Europe and North America. Maruzzi will be based in the London-area.

“Joining GoDaddy means embarking on a new, exciting journey, where proven talent and state-of-the-art technologies merge to improve the lives of millions of small business owners around the world,” Maruzzi said. “Now our objective is to replicate across Europe the success that has led GoDaddy to its current leadership role in the Internet industry and as the Web’s top platform for small businesses.”

GoDaddy has already made major inroads into the European domain name and Web hosting markets after launching successful marketing campaigns. GoDaddy first began advertising in the UK in 2008 and over the years invested in TV commercials, London Underground billboards, as well as radio and online marketing. GoDaddy ads have appeared in major sporting events, such as Barclays Premier League and were also present during the London-based 2012 Summer Olympics. GoDaddy’s accelerated expansion pace is supported by further marketing spends and sponsorship deals, including the broadcast sponsorship of ITV’s UEFA Europa League coverage in 2014.

“Europe is an important element in GoDaddy’s global expansion strategy because so many businesses across Europe are micro and small-to-medium enterprises which are precisely the kind of customers we can help,” said GoDaddy Senior Vice President International James Carroll. “Our ‘blueprint’ is to offer a level of personalised support and a product-set that’s designed for the small business owner who wants to leverage the power of the Internet without a big budget or technical expertise. By summer, under Stefano’s leadership, we’ll have our support staff on the ground and be talking to customers in 14 native languages across Europe.”

Internationally, GoDaddy recorded significant growth since opening in India a little more than one year ago. In August, GoDaddy announced 86 percent growth of its Indian customer base in the year since opening its Hyderabad Customer Care Centre. GoDaddy plans to employ the same growth model in Europe and other global markets.

GoDaddy is based in Scottsdale, Ariz., U.S. and is the world’s largest provider of Web hosting and domain names. GoDaddy operates data centre facilities in Europe and Asia along with offices in India and Canada, as well as California, Iowa, Washington and Massachusetts. The privately-held company is backed by KKR, Silver Lake Partners and Technology Crossover Ventures.
