Take Some Time Today & Celebrate Web Professionals' Day Today Marks the 6th Annual Holiday to Honor Web Pros

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (April 29, 2013) – Today is the day to give your favorite Web professional a hug, because this is Web Professionals’ Day. The holiday has been celebrated since 2008, when Go Daddy, the Web’s top platform for small businesses, launched it as a way to honor all online professionals around the globe – the people who help develop, run, refresh, secure and repair websites at your business or even your home.

As the Internet continues to rapidly expand, so does the need for Web professionals. The specialized field is expected to grow faster over the next decade than the national average for other jobs, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. It’s no wonder, Cisco is predicting more than 3 billion people will be using the Internet by 2015.

"From running a business to connecting with friends and family, our world is increasingly digital," said Go Daddy CEO Blake Irving. “Web professionals, those men and women who build and manage the online world, are at the center of this revolution. They're helping to change the world in pretty amazing ways--and ought to have (at least) one day dedicated in their honor.”

In addition to maintaining websites, Web professionals oversee issues such as user availability, speed of access and ease-of-use. They collect and analyze data on Web activity, traffic patterns and other metrics, as well as monitor and respond to user feedback.

The holiday was created for people like Jordan Shay, Web professional and owner of Jordan Shay Design. Much like Go Daddy, Jordan provides the high-quality service aspects to her clients. “Our website has been a great tool for our business,” said Darris Meitler of Wolf Creek Outfitters. “Jordan enjoys what she does and it shows in her work.”

It’s important for businesses like Jordan’s to have great partners. “Go Daddy cares about me and my business – that is so important to me,” said Shay. “There are many companies who say they’re for the little guy, but Go Daddy backs it up with their unparalleled customer service.”

You, too, can show support for hardworking Web Pros everywhere by posting on Twitter through the hashtag: #WebProDay.
