Release Notes – July 2022

Welcome back to GoDaddy Release Notes, where you’ll find the latest on product updates, innovations and news you can use. In July, we rolled out two enhancements to GoDaddy’s web hosting platform and several improvements to the domain investor experience, including a newly launched Portfolio Manager. Read on to learn more:

  • GoDaddy Portfolio Manager Reimagined for Domain Name Investors
    • GoDaddy remains dedicated to serving as the primary and most-trusted partner for all high-value and large domain portfolio holders. Portfolio Manager Beta is now available for domain name investors, focusing on three key areas: data manipulation, domain organization, and bulk capabilities, providing the domain investor community access to a powerful portfolio management interface that maximizes efficiency and monetization impact. Beta is now enabled in the U.S. and all English-speaking markets, with the international ramp up following within the next few weeks.

Brian Gilbert, Director of Business Development at Innovation HQ, a domain management company, who manages over 17,000 domains, finds the newly reimagined Portfolio Manager “refreshed and intuitive.”

“The ability to more efficiently manage our domains using the improved bulk management tools will save us an immeasurable amount of time,” Gilbert said. “GoDaddy has been our Registrar of choice for well over a decade and improvements like this are why. They continually strive to give their users the best experience possible.”

  • GoDaddy Auctions Releases Two Updates to Improve Investor Experience
    • GoDaddy tightened the timelines for domains from partner registrars who send their expired domains to sell on GoDaddy Auctions. Now, if a domain investor or small business owner wins an auction, they will get the domain in almost all cases, whereas previously registrars created pullbacks of the domain listed on Auctions if a late renewal occurred. This change is designed to provide domain customers with greater confidence that they will receive the domain if they win the auction.
    • GoDaddy also extended the API capabilities to all domain investors for closeout auctions, or Buy It Now (BIN) expired domain auctions. No special permissions are required. This allows investors to create a program when they have an eye out for particular domains, and quickly acquire them the moment they go to closeout auctions.
  • Introducing Daily Backups for Web Hosting and Web Hosting Plus
    • Free Daily Backups is now available for all cPanel Web Hosting and Web Hosting Plus customers, providing another layer of security that automatically helps protect websites against crashes by restoring the entire hosting account, site(s), files, databases, mailboxes, and mail forwarders from the previous day. Customers can also pay to upgrade their backup feature for up to 30 days of restore points. With this automated backup process, customers will experience less site downtime and business impact, and more flexibility in the event of a mishap or major crash.
  • GoDaddy Now Includes SSL Certificates with All Web Hosting Plans
    • A website with an SSL certificate creates an encrypted connection for website owners and their visitors, working to protect valuable information passed between the two parties. GoDaddy now includes an SSL certificate with all Web Hosting plans, ensuring customers have peace of mind that their transactions are secure regardless of the hosting plan they buy. These new plans are now available in the U.S., Canada, U.K., and Australia.
